Too Pregnant to Blog?

October 4, 2007

Evidently I am.

We’ve been trying for over a year to conceive and just when I gave up keeping track, taking my temperature and all that fun stuff, I finally got my little one. The baby seems to dislike blogging, coffee and anything containing chocolate. It’s going to be a long journey considering that these are my favorite things, aside from alcohol and cigarettes which are both part of my distant past.

Hopefully, I’ll be entering the 2nd trimester soon. (Of course, I have no idea how far along we are). I’m ready for less fatigue and nausea, neither of which occurred during my pregnancy with Aubrey. Each kid is different, I guess.

I’m also wondering if I’m feeling so awful because I’m working from home. When I worked full time I was always on the go and I didn’t have time to feel tired. Right now all of my energy is going into writing articles but I’m feeling as if I may have already passed the initial rough road.

Thursday’s Resource: Work from Home Facts

September 20, 2007

I love this guy.

Feve has created a Website that offers valuable information about working at home. This kind of information is typically sold by marketers who are trying to make a quick buck. Fortunately, Feve has a generous nature and he shares his insight at no cost.

Check out Work from Home Facts. There’s a lot of information that I would normally find to be mind-numbing but Feve presents it in a way that is accessible and fun. His conversational tone and sense of humor is a big part of what makes this one of my favorite resources, not to mention all of the helpful information.

Thursday’s Resource: Press Releases

August 30, 2007

I’ve been interested in branching out in the field of writing. I’m taking a grant writing course that begins in the next few weeks but I hate to have focus. In order to make sure that my energy is adequately scattered into oblivion I also started looking into writing press releases.

I found some wonderful resources that I want to share. These sites offer everything from definitions, detailed descriptions and ever-so-important examples.

PublicityInsider.com provides all of the intricate details that you could ever need to get you started on your first press release, including how to pitch your ideas.
PR Web offers tips about content and tips about formatting your press releases. This site even offers handy templates to help you along. In addition, PR Web also offers some insight into common errors writers often make when composing press releases.

These two resources are well organized and they are filled with a plethora of information.

Thursday Resource: Prime Writer

August 9, 2007

Charisse Van Horn is a freelance writer who spends a lot of time helping others in this field, especially on the Work-at-Home-Moms’ forum. I remember her as one of the first individuals that I used to model my own approach to landing regular gigs. Her insight has been very valuable to me.

This is why I am really confused that I didn’t know about the Prime Writer blog until this past weekend. Just as Charisse shares tips and insight on the forums, she also does so in a blog that is packed with information. Funny how these things can slip past me.

Her collection of posts include everything from freelance writing leads to information about writing classes. She has created a wonderful resource for fledgling writers, creative individuals and anyone who wants to work from home.
