Halloween is my favorite holiday. To me, the occasion is all about costumes and candy. I like spooky things, too. In the, um, spirit of this festive time of year, I decided to check into the history of the word Halloween.
Most of us are familiar with “Allhallow-even” which is the last day of October and it’s pretty obvious that Halloween is an abbreviated form of this term. I had no idea that the term is Scottish nor that it was first used around 1745. I was also surprised to discover that October 31st is the last day of the year for the old Celtic calendar.
Maybe I should put together a list of resolutions for the next two months. I might actually stick with them all the way to January 1st.

How fun! Thanks for looking up the origin of the holiday. (I love learning holiday origins.)
